Nathan Davidson
PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC, MSN
Nathan is a dedicated and experienced psychiatric and family nurse practitioner with over two decades of expertise in delivering comprehensive, high-quality care to patients across the lifespan.
Nathan holds dual certifications and works part-time in a primary care setting, providing care for both acute and chronic conditions. His unique expertise in both primary care and psychiatry allows him to address the whole patient, creating treatment plans that are complementary to both medical and psychological needs. This comprehensive approach helps prevent medication interactions and reduces side effects that could negatively impact overall health.
Nathan’s journey into advanced practice nursing was inspired by his family’s legacy in the nursing profession. His paternal grandmother, a Captain in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II, and his mother shared stories of their experiences, instilling a passion for nursing early in his life. As a young man, Nathan continued this tradition by joining the U.S. Navy Sea Bees, where he developed discipline, dedication, and a deep commitment to teamwork and community service. These qualities now inform his medical practice. After marrying Michele in 1991, Nathan was inspired by her work as a certified nurse midwife to pursue his family nurse practitioner degree. Over the course of his 30-year career as a Family Nurse Practitioner, Nathan has treated hundreds of patients with mental health conditions, reinforcing his belief that optimal health requires addressing both physical and mental well-being.
Driven by a commitment to ensuring patients receive prompt, evidence-based mental health care, Nathan pursued advanced certification in psychiatric mental health. Alongside his wife, Michele, he embraced a focus on providing comprehensive psychiatric care. At Chesapeake Bay Psychiatry, Nathan specializes in treating individuals with acute and chronic mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, and ADHD. He believes that proper treatment of these conditions can be life-changing, improving every aspect of a person’s life. His holistic, patient-centered approach ensures that patients receive the support they need through collaboration with other healthcare providers to create well-rounded treatment plans. Nathan’s telehealth services provide flexibility for patients, allowing them to schedule appointments without taking time away from work or family obligations.
Nathan’s extensive clinical experience spans a variety of healthcare settings. At Tricare Prime Clinic, he provides a full range of family practice services to military dependents and retirees, including acute care, chronic disease management, well-child visits, and preventive health services. Previously, he served as the sole provider at Premise Health, where he cared for a high-acuity population at the Capital One Call Center, managing complex medical conditions and performing on-site procedures. His diverse clinical background also includes positions at Coleman Primary Care, Kaiser Permanente, and Warrenton Medical Associates, where he gained expertise in managing both routine and complex cases across internal medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, and gastroenterology.
Nathan holds a Post-Master’s Certificate as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Cincinnati and earned his Master’s in Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from George Mason University. His broad clinical skillset includes suturing, skin biopsies, joint injections, and chronic disease management. He is certified to perform Department of Transportation (DOT) physicals and is a National Registry Certified Medical Examiner. Nathan is also certified in motivational interviewing, a therapeutic technique that helps patients find internal motivation for change. His non-judgmental, direct approach puts patients at ease and fosters trust from the first visit. Additionally, Nathan has served as an adjunct professor at multiple universities, mentoring graduate students and refining his ability to communicate complex medical information in a clear and accessible way.
At Chesapeake Bay Psychiatry, Nathan is dedicated to delivering empathetic, comprehensive care tailored to the individual needs of each patient. Whether managing psychiatric care or providing family health services, his focus remains on improving patient outcomes through collaboration, compassion, and clinical excellence.
